Getting to know Berlin

We arrived in Berlin on Saturday evening. It was the only day that the shops were open because of the holidays, so we headed up to Alexanderplatz. There we did some shopping and ate dinner by ourselves.

Our hotel was the Heart Of Gold Hostel, which was a really clean and good quality traveller hostel. The rooms were quite big (about 5-7 persons per room). Breakfast was a typical hostel breakfast. It included cereals, müsli, white bread, cold cuts and coffee and tea to drink. The breakfast was placed next to the reception.

Pros of the hostel were that the reception cafe served tea and coffee for free throughout the day and the staff were kind and helpful. Cons were that the toilets and showers were in the hallway (not in the rooms) and we needed to make our own beds by putting in the bed sheets.
We give this hostel three stars out of four.

On our second day in Berlin, after the city tour, most of the students decided to go to the Berlin Zoo. There we saw some really cool animals like elephants, lions, penquins and gorillas.

Day 3. In the morning we were in the museum and after that everybody was doing their own things in small groups. Some boys went to play frisbee golf. Others stayed in the hostel to rest and the rest went to see the Brandenburg Gate.
